Recruiting starts earlier than most parents expect. Our coaches run a documented timeline so families know what's happening each fall and spring — film drops, ID-camp invites, outreach to college programs.

8th GradeExposure Year
First film, first showcases
Players join the U14 ECNL-RL or Junior Academy pathway. Coaches tag two full-game Hudl films per season and begin a private SportsRecruits profile so the recruiting record starts now — not junior year. Families receive a one-page recruiting primer at preseason parent meetings.

9th GradeFoundation
Verified profile, NCAA Eligibility Center registered
Every U15 player is registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center and receives a verified SportsRecruits profile with measurables, contact card, and three Hudl highlight reels (club + high school). Coaches introduce families to the core-course tracker and the Division I / II / III academic benchmarks.

Targeted ID camps, coach outreach
LNSC coaches build a target list of 15–25 college programs per player based on academic fit, playing style, and roster need. Highlight films are distributed through Hudl's coach-network feed and SportsRecruits' direct messaging. Players attend two to three ID camps — our staff coordinates the slate.

11th–12th GradeCommitment
Official communication, campus visits, signing
Coaches manage the formal communication window (June 15 after junior year), coordinate unofficial and official visits, and sit with families on offer evaluation. We run an annual November signing-day event at the Langtree clubhouse for every senior who has committed.

Parents shouldn't be paying for a third-party scouting subscription on top of club dues. Lake Norman Soccer runs an integrated Hudl + SportsRecruits pipeline at no additional cost to the family — and every U15–U17 player ships out of the program with the artifacts a college coach expects to see.

Eligibility, in plain English
The straight answer parents are Googling at 11 p.m.
Recruiting runs on two tracks — athletic and academic. The academic track is governed by the NCAA Eligibility Center, and most families wait too long to engage with it. Here's what you actually need to know.
When should my player register with the NCAA Eligibility Center?
U15 year — the fall of 9th grade. Registration is free for domestic students and takes about 20 minutes. Our staff reminds every U15 family at preseason parent meetings and walks them through the form. You can re-verify transcripts each spring; do not skip this.
What's the academic bar for each division?
Division I: 16 core courses (4 English, 3 math at Algebra II or higher, 2 natural/physical science with lab, 1 additional English/math/science, 2 social science, 4 additional from any above or foreign language/nondoctrinal religion/philosophy), minimum 2.3 GPA, and a qualifying SAT/ACT sliding-scale score. Division II: 16 core courses with the same subject distribution, minimum 2.2 GPA, qualifying sliding-scale score. Division III: no Eligibility Center certification required — admission is handled by the college's own academic standards, though prospective D-III players still register so coaches can confirm academic fit.
Does Lake Norman Soccer track our core-course progress?
We don't replace your high school counselor — but our college-pathway director runs an annual transcript review each spring for every U15–U17 player, flags missing core courses, and connects families with tutors or summer-school options when a course is at risk of being missed.
When can college coaches actually contact my player?
Per NCAA rules: D-I coaches may begin official written communication June 15 after the player's sophomore year, official phone calls June 15 after junior year. Unofficial contact and recruiting questionnaires can begin earlier. Our coaches manage this calendar so no family is caught off-guard by a phone call they didn't expect.
Are scholarship guarantees real?
No club can guarantee a roster spot, scholarship, or signing. What we can guarantee is that every LNSC player who wants to play in college and commits to the process will leave our program with the film, profile, coach outreach, and academic standing to compete for those opportunities.
