Chad Metzler, Executive Director

Chad holds his USSF D License. Chad grew up in Ohio playing premier level soccer for the highly successful Cleveland United Club, as well as spending summers in England where he participated with several professional academies. Chad was recruited to play collegiate soccer at Davidson College (NCAA Division I), where he graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Studio Art, as well as a minor in Bio-Chemistry. Chad joined the Peace Corps, serving two years, in the Republic of Vanauatu in the South Pacific. Chad returned to North Carolina in 2001. 

Prior to LNSC Chad was coaching for North Meck Soccer Club from 2001 - 2008 coaching various NCYSA teams at both the Premier and 1st Division level where he won a USYS Presidents Cup, as well as appearing in the Region III Presidents Cup Semi-Final.  In 2008, Chad helped establish the LNSC Eclipse program, which has at least 1 State Semi-Finalist every year since its inception. Since then he has coached teams that have made several final four appearances in the state cup, as well as several State Runners-Up. Chad has won the NCYSA Premier league 4x, and was promoted to Region III Premier League 2x. Chad has overseen the sending of LNSC teams to some of the top tournaments in the World, including a Dana Cup (Denmark) Championship in 2009, 2013, and 2015. Chad has also coached the girls' soccer program at Davidson Day School where he won 3 consecutive Private/1A State Championships. 

Scott Flowers, Director of Soccer Operations

Coach Flowers joins us with a USSF National B License and NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.  He is a graduate of Missouri State University with a Bachelor Arts in Anthropology.  He also holds his US Youth Soccer National Youth License along with his NSCAA Level I and II Goalkeeping Diploma/High School Diploma.  He brings a variety of club experience including working with Trussville United Soccer Club, AL-Executive Director/Director of Coaching (’10-15); Birmingham United, AL (07-10); Germantown Fury, TN (‘04-06); and High Country Soccer Association, CO (01-03).  Not only has Coach Flowers worked at the club level, he has a long history at the high school level as well:  Mountain Brook High (AL) Head Women’s Coach (‘07-15); Christian Brothers High (TN) Assistant Men’s Coach (‘04-06); Summit High School (CO) Assistant Men’s Coach (’01-03).  He has also worked as an Alabama Girls' ODP Staff Coach 2000/02 and as a US Soccer Junior Staff Coach-Alabama.  Other awards and recognitions include AL High School Women’s Coach of the Year (‘08/’13); HS State Champions-Women’s 6A (‘08/’13); HS State Runners-Up (’14); and NSCAA HS Nationally Ranked (13th in ’08, 15th in ’13).

Stephen Chaconas, Director of Coaching Force & Education

Stephen holds his USSF Senior A License, USSF B License, USSF C License, USSF D License, & USYS Youth National License.  As a youth, Stephen spent several summers traveling to Scotland, England, and Wales to play at some of the most prestigious youth tournaments in the world in Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, and Cardiff. A four-year letter winner and Co-Captain at Guilford College, Stephen's certifications include USAW Olympic Weightlifting, National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, and USA Track & Field Level I. He graduated from Guilford College in 2004 with a Bachelors Degree of Science in Sports Medicine, with a concentration in Sports Management. Stephen has playing experience at youth college, PDL, and semi-professional levels in the US.

Stephen was most recently at North Meck Soccer Club where he was the Assistant Girls Director of Coaching. In his 12 months at NMSC he captured 3 State Cup runner-up trophies, as well as trophies at Disney Soccer Showcase, Ultimate Cup, and Annandale Premier Soccer Showcase. Prior to North Meck Stephen was the Assistant Director of Classic Soccer and Director of CASL F.I.T (Fitness Integrated Training) at Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) in Raleigh, NC. Stephen has coached 13 NCYSA State Final Four qualifying teams, 3 of which have gone on to become NCYSA State Cup Runners-Up, and 3 of which have won NCYSA State Championships (2 NCYSA State Cup Championships & 1 NCYSA Presidents Cup Championship). His coaching background has seen him serve as the Assistant Coach at Guilford College (NCAA Division III) as well as Assistant Coach for the W-League Carolina Railhawks. Tournament success has come at all levels including Disney Junior & Senior Showcase, CASL Junior & Senior Showcase, Atlanta Cup, WAGS, and Jefferson Cup. In 14 years coaching, Stephen has placed over 110 athletes in collegiate soccer programs and had 3 former players called into Youth National Teams.

Kate Hammes, Director of Coaching Eclipse & Camps

Kate holds her Costa Rica Soccer Federation A License, NSCAA National Advanced Diploma, Women's Football Specialization License from FIFA, as well as a FIFA/CIES Sports Management Degree. Kate spent her formal education years in Costa Rica at the University of Costa Rica studying Physical Education. Kate has an international background in soccer as she signed with a pro club in Argentina when she was 15, CA Independiente. From Argentina, she went on to play in Costa Rica where she was a 3 time National Champion. In Costa Rica, she went on to coach at every level including spending time with the Costa Rican National Team. In 2014, she went back to Costa Rica to work with FIFA at the U17 Women's World Cup & had the pleasure of being partnered with the Nigerian U17 National Team. 

Coach Hammes comes to us most recently from Omaha FC in Nebraska. There she started as an age group coordinator with the 98/99 age group at U11. She has also coached the top teams in the 99/00 & 97/98 age groups. In the last 4 years, she has earned 5 State Cup Championships and developed several Region II ODP Players. Her teams have played in the Midwest Regional League, at the highest level possible, Premier 1. Her 97/98 team qualified & competed in the USYS National League. She has been instrumental in finding a college home for nearly 50 players, both international and domestic at various NCAA levels.  

Adam Tipper, Assistant Director of Coaching - Eclipse

Adam comes to LNSC from Birmingham England. He holds his FA (England) Badge Level 1 & 2, FA Level 1 & 2 Goalkeeping Certification, and completion of the A1 Assessors Licence. Adam played for Sutton Coldfield College while obtaining his licenses. Upon completion of College, Adam went to The University of Derby and earned a degree in Sports Coaching. Alongside this, he coached for Derby County FC. On completion of his studies, he became a scout for Wolverhampton Wanderers FC and was the manager of the Community Fusion Program, which became a development center for the Wolves developmental program, in addition to setting up his own goalkeeping school. Adam brings former professional playing experience from Buxton F.C, Sutton United F.C and Saltley Stallions F.C.

Prior to joining LNSC Adam was most recently at Impact FC in Statesville, NC where he coached various teams at all age groups. His most recent success was winning the 2015 USYS Presidents State Cup with his U16 girl's team and having the team represent North Carolina in Texas at regionals.  He has previously worked in the United States assessing and mentoring coaches in New Jersey for Premier Skill. Adam also served as a West Ham United FC International Scout & Coach where his role was to observe players to potentially send back to the UK for trials.

Phil Dobbing, Director of Youth Academy

Phil comes to LNSC from Sunderland, England. After many years playing youth soccer in the UK, he came to the US (2009) to play at Maple Woods Community College in Kansas City, competing in the NJCAA. He then transferred to Bellevue University (2011) in the NAIA where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance with a minor in Sport Coaching (2014). Most recently, whilst serving as an Assistant Coach at Avila University in the NAIA, Phil obtained his Master of Science degree in Organization Development with an emphasis in Leadership Coaching (2017).
Over the past eight years, Phil has spent time playing and coaching all over the US in Kansas City, MO, Omaha, NE and spent substantial time in San Jose, CA coaching and serving as Marketing Manager for the PSA Royals Academy, as well as coaching at the San Jose Earthquakes Pre-Academy. He was also the Director of Operations at US Sports Coaching in San Jose, CA.

Phil has a plethora of coaching qualifications and licenses from both the UK, and the US, such as the USSF National ‘C’ License (2015), NSCAA Advanced National Diploma: Pass with Distinction (2017), NSCAA Goalkeeping Level 1 & 2 (2014), and F.A Level 1 & 2 (2007).

Here at LNSC, Phil will oversee the day to day operations of both the boys and girls in the Youth Academy (U9-U12), be responsible for creating the curriculum and overseeing the development of our young athletes to make sure they are fully equipped for their next phase of development with either our Force or Eclipse programs. 

Stephen Sweeney, Assistanct Director of Coaching - Boys Academy

Stephen comes to LNSC from Cheshire, England. He holds both the FA level I and II Licenses, the FA Youth License, and has gained his USSF E license.

Stephen played for Priestley College Centre of Excellence before attending Edge Hill University in Liverpool, England. There, Stephen earned his degree in Sports Coaching and Participation Development as well as being a member of the University 1st team. Alongside gaining his degree, Stephen coached for Manchester City's Academy system and their City in the Community program. On completion of his studies, Stephen moved to the US in 2012 where he became the Academy director for Old Dominion Football Club in Northern Virginia and spent four years with ODFC. 
Prior to joining LNSC Stephen was most recently at NCUSA in Lexington, NC where he coached various teams at all age groups.

Kellyn Zetts, Assistant Director of Coaching - Girls Academy

Played soccer at the University of Wisconsin and Kent State University. Completed a prestigious internship with the Sports Performance Department at Stanford University and worked closely with Women's Soccer. Certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Performance Enhancement Specialist, Fitness Nutrition Specialist, and Corrective Exercise Specialist. Former staff coach for the Cleveland Cobras Soccer Club in Ohio, the club she grew up playing for. Carries the E license. Kellyn currently the Girls Academy Assistant Director and coaches the U14 G Eclipse Black.

Miranda Carlson, Director of Marketing & Staff Coach

Played club soccer for the Richmond Kickers (Richmond, VA) from U9-U18. 4 year varsity starter at Manchester High School (Chesterfield, VA) earning All-Academic all 4 years, First Team All-District 3 years in a row, Second Team All-Metro 3 years in a row, Honorable Mention All-Region 1 year, and Defensive Player of the Year for Manchester 2 years in row. 4-year starter at Radford University (NCAA Division I) totaling 5079 minutes. 2-year LNSC W-20 starter. 2-year LNSC WPSL starter earning a spot on the All-Star Team in 2016. Miranda holds an E coaching License.

Jimena Rojas Cordero, Director of Sports Performance
Jimena has an ‘A’ license from both the German Soccer Federation & the Costa Rican Soccer Federation. She also has an ‘A’ License in Fitness Training from the Costa Rican Soccer Federation. She has a Masters Degree from with an emphasis in Coaching Soccer from the International University of Latin American Integration in Nicaragua. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from the University of Costa Rica. She also has an Associate Degree in Sports Management from FIFA/CIES. She spent 6 months at the University of Leipzig in Germany specializing in Women’s Soccer & spent another 3 months at the International Olympic Center in Spain specializing in training Elite Athletes. 
Jimena came to LNSC after acting as the Asst Coach & Fitness Coach for the Universidad de Costa Rica Men’s 1st Division Professional Team for 3 seasons. Before this, she spent 3 years as a Sports Performance Analyst & Biomechanics Specialist for the Costa Rican Olympic Committee in which she supervised 10 different sports & traveled with the National Teams to Official Olympic competitions. She coached a 1st Division Women’s Professional team in Costa Rica which was Arenal. In 2012, she was employed by FIFA & the LOC (local organizing committee) for the U17 Women’s World Cup 2014, tasked to find & develop the talent to represent Costa Rica as the host country in their participation in the World Cup. She found all of the players that eventually made the U17 Costa Rican National Team. As a player, Jimena represented Costa Rica as a youth player in the U19 squad & then got her caps on the full Costa Rican National Team. She played for several different clubs throughout her career with 3 National Titles to claim.
Jason Strange, Director of Goalkeeping & Asst. Director of Operations

Coach Strange holds a USSF B license as well as a NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma. Jason played collegiate soccer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a member of the 2001 NCAA Division I National Championship team. Jason graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise & Sports Science, with a concentration in Sports Administration.  

Most recently, Jason was a Director of Coaching for FC Carolina Alliance in Concord NC where he oversaw the club goalkeeping program as well as coaching various teams. Prior to joining FCCA, Jason was the Director of Goalkeeping for Greensboro United Soccer Association in Greensboro, NC while also serving as Assistant Coach & Goalkeeper coach for Greensboro College (NCAA Division III), and Catawba College (NCAA Division II). Coach Strange is currently an Assistant Coach in charge of the Davidson College Goalkeepers (NCAA Division I). Jason has also served as a coach and trainer for NC ODP, and US Market Training Centers. 


Erik Turnblom, Director of Tournaments/Marketing

Coach Erik Turnblom joins LNSC after moving back from London, England where he was the head coach of Camden Town FC, American School London and a staff coach for Arsenal Soccer Schools.  He also managed clinics and consulted high school players looking to get recruited to American Universities.  Previous to moving to London, Erik was the Assistant Coach at the Queens University of Charlotte where he helped the Royals to their first top 25 NCAA national ranking in school history.  Erik also created and managed the first ever Developmental Program at Queens, giving young players more opportunity to play college soccer.  Before Queens, Erik was the assistant coach at Wofford College for three seasons.  Erik has coached for both SC and NC ODP as well.  He played collegiate soccer at Elon University for one year before transferring to UNC.  At UNC he played club soccer for the UNC Heels, making it to the national semi-finals in 2005.  The two seasons following, Erik was selected as Captain and President, leading the Heels to a regional championship and two national tournaments.  Erik played for UNC varsity for one season.  A native to the Charlotte area, Erik lives in Cornelius with his wife, Hannah, and daughter, Riley. Erik possesses his NSCAA National Diploma and FA Level 2 licenses. 

Matt Bice, Staff Coach

Matt holds his USSF D license. He has been with SISA (LNSC Affiliate) for 10 years and LNSC for 6 years. Matt previously coached at IFC for 4 years. Matt has been a Director of Coaching for the LNSC United program in coordination with SISA, as well as serving on the SISA Board of Directors for the past 10 years. Matt also serves as the Head Coach at Lake Norman High School. 

Kenny Bonilla, Staff Coach

Played club soccer for the FCCA, Lake Norman Soccer club, and North Meck Academy from U13-U18. 4 year varsity starter at Salisbury High School (Salisbury, NC) earning All-Academic all 4 years, All-Conference all 4 years and conference player of the year in 2011, All Region 3 years, All State in 2011, and won the state championship in 2011, he also got a chance to represent NC in the NCvsSC match and the west in the East vs West game. Kenneth played and graduated from Catawba College where he majored in Sports Management. While playing at Catawba College, Kenneth was a 4 year starter, starting 58 out of 59 matches, scoring 20 goals and assisting 10 times in those matches. Earned HM All-Sac 2013 and 2015, NCCSIA All-State in 2013, and NSCAA All-Region player in 2015. 2 year. Kenneth holds an E coaching License.

Adam Borman holds a USSF “D” License as well as the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.  He is currently coaching at Johnson and Wales University of Charlotte. Other collegiate coaching experiences have been at Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs NC and Colby College in Waterville ME.  As a Boy’s Varsity Head Coach in 2011, Adam took his team to the state tournament by winning the New York State Section 1 Class AA Championship.  That year he was also named Hudson Valleys coach of the year.  He coached four years of high school soccer.  He has also coached both U11 girls and U18 boys.

Nick Brown, Staff Coach

Nick played at Catawba College from 2001-2004 and was a four-year starter and two-year captain at Catawba. Currently, Nick is the women's assistant coach at Catawba College and has been for the past three seasons. He is also the head girls varsity coach at Lake Norman High School. Before joining Lake Norman, Nick was with FCCA for 6 years where he coached U9- U11 boys and U17-U18 girls. He has coached numerous players who have gone on to play DI, DII and DIII soccer. He is also coaching the West Rowan High School girls soccer team where his accolades there include being named conference coach of the year in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. This past year Nick was named North Carolina 3A State Coach of the year.


Brenda Cress has been associated with LNSC and SISA for 20+ years in various roles.  Brenda has numerous youth coaching lisences and is a certified referee.  She loves to teach skills and watch her players continue throughout the ranks of soccer. Brenda rejoined LNSC in 2017 and is loving being a part of the academy program.

Tammy DeCesare, Staff Coach

Coach Tammy DeCesare comes to LNSC after most recently being the head coach at Lenior-Rhyne University. DeCesare came to Lenior-Rhyne after spending the three previous seasons as an Assistant Coach at the Queens University of Charlotte. She helped the Queens Royals earn their first top 25 NCAA national ranking in school history. Prior to Queens Coach, DeCesare was the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Western Carolina and Coastal Carolina. As Head Coach at WCU DeCesare led Western Carolina to a 58-36-13 mark including two Southern Conference Tournament Championships and two berths in the NCAA Division I Playoffs.  The 2005 season was the best in school history at WCU. In her lone season with Coastal Carolina, DeCesare led the CCU Chanticleers to a share of the Big South Regular Season Championship and a 10-8-2 mark. DeCesare has been actively involved in the Olympic Development Program (ODP) for the past 10 years and was a Region III ODP Coach and Administrator. DeCesare started her collegiate coaching career at UNC Wilmington where she spent six years as an assistant.  DeCesare also served as Head Women’s Soccer Coach at East Rowan High School in Salisbury, N.C. Coach DeCesare earned her undergraduate degree from Catawba College in 1996 before earning her Master’s of Education in Curriculum Design and Instructional Supervision in 2002 from UNC Wilmington.  Currently, DeCesare is pursuing her Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership at UNC Charlotte. DeCesare was a standout dual sports athlete at Catawba, playing both women’s soccer and women’s basketball.  DeCesare was an all-conference honoree and team MVP for the Catawba College Indians’ soccer team and led Catawba to two league tournament titles and a SAC Regular Season Championship.  In women’s basketball, DeCesare was part of the 1993 Food Lion SAC Tournament Championship squad.

Adam Denton, Staff Coach

Adam Denton holds a USSF National "A", NSCAA Premier Diploma, and UEFA "B" License.  Denton has held director of coaching positions with various age groups over the last 10 years.  While at Charlotte Soccer Club and Charlotte Soccer Academy, he coached eight different teams to a total of 11 USYS State Championships.  Denton has also led his teams to regional competitions, ECNL conference championships, numerous tournament victories including WAGS, Jefferson Cup, and the Disney Soccer Showcase.  Denton has coached well over 150 female players that have gone on to play at the collegiate soccer level.  Denton is a member of the USYS Region III ODP and NC ODP coaching staff.


Adam is a native of Liverpool, England, and was a young professional player with Everton Football Club (1995-1997).  Denton spent four years playing at Wingate University.  While at Wingate (1997-2001), Denton received SAC Freshman of the Year, All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American Honors.

Kazree Johnson, Staff Coach

Coach Kazree brings 25+ years of experience as a player and over 15 years as a coach at many different levels. Kazree started playing as a young child and worked her way up to elite levels including select, ODP, and regional teams in her playing days. Coach Kazree has coached various ages of club soccer. Kazree coached for the Utah Soccer Association Soccer Club and Murray Max Soccer Club in Utah. Upon moving to North Carolina she began coaching with FCCA and then Lake Norman Soccer Club. Kazree has led teams to champion and finalist positions in many tournaments.

Garrett Linquist, Staff Coach

Garrett currently holds his USSF D license and NSCAA Level III Goalkeeping Diploma. Garrett comes to LNSC from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he was an Assistant Coach, Recruiting Coordinator, and goalkeeper trainer. Originally from Hickory, NC Garrett grew up playing for Lake Norman Soccer Club where they were Kepner Cup State Champions. Garret played his high school at Newton Conover where he was an All-Region & All-Conference selection as a forward.

Garrett graduated with a degree in accounting from Lenior-Rhyne University in 2012. Garrett has previously coached for CVYSA Soccer in Hickory, NC,  Lincoln Futbol Club in Fayetteville, TN. and the University of Alabama Huntsville. Coach Linquist will be heading up LNSC Statesville as well as coaching teams out of LNSC West & Central. 

Ryan Luttrell, Staff Coach

Ryan holds his USSF F License and NSCAA Diploma. He has most recently been working for Roanoke Star in Roanoke, VA coaching classic level teams in multiple ages. Ryan graduated from Virginia Tech University with his degree in Mechanical Engineering. 

Ryan played his high school soccer at Riverbend High School and was a Region 2nd team selection, and State team Honorable Mention. He has played for the Fredericksburg Gunners U-20 Team, as well as the Fredericksburg USL PDL Reserve Team. 

Cleve Pechuekonis, Staff Coach

Cleve holds a USSF D license, as well as being a USSF certified referee.  He has previously served as a South Iredell Soccer Association (SISA) board member for the past five years.  Cleve played through high school at Coconut Creek High School in Florida.  He has over twenty years of coaching experience including four years coaching with the US Navy Morale, Welfare & Recreation department in Bremerton, WA, four years with the Central Kisap Soccer Club in Silverdale, WA, one year with the Valley Youth Soccer League in Fresno, CA, three years with the Colorado Elite Soccer Club in Castle Rock, CO,  and one year with the SISA in Mooresville, NC. Cleve has served on the LNSC staff for the past four years in both the Academy & Junior Eclipse programs.

Powell Paguibitan, Staff Coach

Powell is joining from Davidson Day School, where he is the Men's & Women's Varsity Head Coach for the last 2 years. Powell was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up playing competitively in the area. Powell graduated from The Walker School where he was an All-County team member. Powell attended and graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelors in Psychology. He followed up his undergraduate education with 2 years of teaching in Spain. Powell is bilingual and speaks fluent Spanish. Post-teaching in Spain Powell completed his Masters of Education at Vanderbilt graduating in 2012. 

Powell's background is in cognitive behavioral therapy where he works to promote social and communal wellness.  'Coach P' will be working with our Senior programming, Technical Staff, and Part-time Staff where he will be focusing on mindset, attitude, and beliefs. He believes in creating a positive culture based on an environment that stimulates a growth based mindset for our individuals and staff. 

John Patterson, Staff Coach

John Patterson holds a USSF ‘D’ License and has over 20 years coaching experience with various Clubs, High School and College.  He was the Assistant Coach and Goalkeeper Coach for the Dallas Sting (’87 – ’89) that won USYS National titles in ’87 & ’88.  John was the first Women’s Head Coach for Richland College (’89-’91) and assisted the Men’s program.  In 1995, he moved to Boston where he coached the Girls program at Arlington High School (’95-’97).  John coached the Charles River United Soccer Club (’96 – ’98) Girls ’78 team that won States and were Regional runner-ups. After a 10-year hiatus to focus on his family and career (IT), John moved from Boston to Denver NC in 2007.  Beginning in 2010, he coached his kids for NMSC in the Academy recreational program in Denver.  Since 2013, John has been staffed at LNSC Lincoln County, coaching Academy Girls, the U15 Girls (’01) and is the branch goalkeeper coach.

John played club soccer growing up in Dallas TX in the early 70’s - ‘80s.  John received a soccer scholarship, as a goalkeeper,  and played Sam Houston State University (Huntsville, TX NCAA Division I). After college, he was recruited by professional teams in Dallas playing indoor and outdoor in the USISL and USL (Richardson Rockets, Arlington Arrows, ’87-‘90).  John was part of the initial MLS combine and MLS Draft in 1993.

Darryl White, Staff Coach

Darryl White has coached soccer in the Lincoln County and Iredell County area for over 17 years.  He currently holds his NSCAA Advanced Regional Diploma.  He is one of the original founders of middle school soccer in Lincoln County.  Darryl coached boys and girls middle school soccer at Statesville Middle School for 4 years and at East Lincoln Middle School for 8 years.  He then moved to East Lincoln High School as the JV boys and girls coach and assistant varsity coach, working with Coach Jason Dragoon.  While working at ELHS Coach White was named North Carolina Assistant Coach of the Year.   Darryl coached 3 seasons of recreational soccer with North Mecklenburg  Soccer Association.  He played 4 seasons of adult recreational soccer with North Mecklenburg  Adult Soccer League.  Coach White was an assistant coach with one of the first Iredell Rowdies girls club teams out of Mooresville( Iredell Rowdies eventually became Lake Norman Soccer Club.)  This is his third season with LNSC, having coached boys academy and U12 Challenge girls.
